This makes a good crowd breaker, and gets everyone’s attention immediately.

What you see: A person is asked to choose a number between 1 and 10. They are then asked to add, subtract, add and subtract, and finally the host tells them the number they are thinking of, and he or she is right, for everyone in the audience. It’s amazing.

How it works: Ask your audience to choose a number between 1 and 10, but don’t tell it to anyone, keep it a secret. Now, add 5 to that number. Keep it in your mind, don’t let anyone see it. Now, subtract 2. Got it? Good, now add 4. Keep up. Don’t get lost. One more thing. Remember your original number? Subtract it from the number you have now. Got it? Are you with me? Good. Now give the answer. The answer is “7”. Regardless of the number they start with, the answer will always be “7”. Works every time, and if it doesn’t work it is because they goofed. Have fun.
